STEAMPUNK BIG TECH

STEAMPUNK BIG TECH

$45.00

This personal commission was inspired on John Henry, who was a physically built railroad worker who worked on the tracks being built during the westward expansion of the American frontier in the post-Civil War era. With his great hammer and immense strength, he set the nails of the tracks and broke the rocks to build tunnels. However, one day the head of the company arrived with a steam-powered hammering machine that threatened to put him and all his colleagues out of their jobs. John Henry challenged his boss to a race: if he could nail the tracks faster than the machine, the jobs would be kept. John Henry managed to win the race, but he pushed so hard that he died immediately.

This is also an interpretation of the current big tech companies, and how they manipulate the information. The main character tries to fight them, even if he takes a big risk by doing so.

  • HOW DO I DECIDE HOW TO PRICE MY WORK ?

I certainly learnt a lot of lessons from time trying to figure out fair prices! As a result from experience I now print to order and I use a professional printer business who produces high end giclée art prints. Whilst this is not a cheap option it is a sensible one for me and means I don’t have unsold stock sitting around. Firstly, I factor the time in for creating the artwork which is often hard to work out. So I just came to an amount that I’d be happy with based on the time I’ve spent producing it, promoting it, paying for my website, paying for my art equipment, paying for the packing material and the time it takes me, scanning costs, paying delivery service costs to collect the prints sent to me by my printer, tax etc.
